How to crop an image

  1. Open the PixelLite editor.
  2. Upload your image.
  3. Choose the crop controls and select the desired area.
  4. Use an aspect ratio such as 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9 when needed.
  5. Apply the crop and download the result.

Common image crop ratios

Square 1:1 crops are useful for profile images and thumbnails. Ratios such as 4:3 and 16:9 are commonly used for photos, presentations and web layouts. A custom crop can be used when you need a specific composition.

Crop before resizing

Cropping removes unwanted areas of an image, while resizing changes its dimensions. When preparing an image for a fixed layout, cropping first can help preserve the intended composition before resizing.

Browser based processing

PixelLite is designed to process supported image operations locally in your browser. Your image does not need to be uploaded to a PixelLite server for normal editing and export.
